Marine Day
The 18th of this month is a national holiday called "Marine Day.
What do you do on this day?
In this hot summer, why don't you go to the beach on Marine Day?
Today, I would like to recommend to you some of the best places to visit.
Enoshima Island
Some of you may not be familiar with the station name "Kamakura Koukoumae”.
This is the location of the famous "Slam Dunk" .
The scene where Hanamichi Sakuragi waves to Haruko Akagi on the station platform where the sea and the sky merge into one will surely be a famous scene that will remain in the hearts of many people.
You will surely have your own "Hanamichi Sakuragi" and "Haruko Akagi" in your mind.
Coming here may remind you of your own youth.
It takes only one hour from Tokyo by train.
Purchasing an “Enoshima-Kamakura 1-day pass” entitles you to unlimited rides for one day within the area indicated below.
How about taking a ride on a retro train this hot summer, listening to the sound of the sea, and traveling around Kamakura with the sound of the rails?
“I want to go in the sea!”, if you think so, the ocean beyond Enoshima is recommended.
Get off at "Katase Enoshima" station and walk 5 minutes to Katase Nishihama beach.Compared to the sea in front of "Kamakura High School," few people come here, and it is a quiet and beautiful beach. The reflection of the sun makes the sand turn golden and shimmering. Sitting on the beach, feeling the ocean breeze, your body and soul will be healed and calm.
I really recommend Atami! It takes only 2 hours from Tokyo by train. Atami is like a secret base that will make you think you are in a foreign country.
Compared to the very popular Kamakura, not as many tourists visit here. The main attraction is not the people, but the pigeons strolling leisurely and the palm trees swaying in the wind. The beach is very wide and close to the station. It is also very close to hotels and city area, so when you are tired from playing on the beach, you can have a quick meal or rest. Palm trees line the beach for about 400 meters, so you can really feel the summer when you take a rest on a sheet under the trees.
At night, you can also see a different side of the beach. On summer nights, Atami's beaches are the site of fireworks displays. This summer, a fireworks display is scheduled to be held. Please be sure to go see them!
You can even watch the fireworks from your hotel room, so come experience them for yourself!
