Q. What kind of career path did you take after graduating from TCJ? Also, please tell us the reason why you chose your career path.
I entered the Graduate School of Media Arts at Tokyo Polytechnic University. What I want to do in graduate school is to create an interactive space with Noh masks and face changing of Sichuan opera in order to convey the appeal of traditional culture to people. I will develop my skills, sensitivity, and expression method in graduate school so that create more sensation for the people by my art works. I would like to actively involve in the society through my media art works.
Q. What are your goals and dreams for the future? Please be as specific as possible.
I had seen many Japanese media art works at a museum in Shanghai before. I was very much interested in Japanese media art, not only because of its technique, but also because of its combination with traditional culture, which left a deep impression on me. I would like to work for a media company like P.I.C.S. or TeamLab in Japan after I finish my graduate studies. I would like to gain wider experience in Japan and then go back to China and start my own media company. I would like to combine Japanese and Chinese traditional culture to the new media method to create a lot of new art works.
Q. Please give some advice to students who will join TCJ in the future and current students based on your experience.
The teachers helped me a lot when I was studying for the graduate school entrance exams and I was at JLPT N4 level when I enrolled at TCJ, but I was able to pass JLPT N1 before the exam. I had to prepare a portfolio of work for the exam, the teachers checked all the Japanese wording in the portfolio and help me with the trial interviews before the exam for 4 times. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity. I wish you all success in your studies.
