Japanese Level at Admission / N2
Q. What kind of career path did you take after graduating from TCJ? Also, please tell us the reason why you chose your career path.
After graduating from TCJ, I will continue my studies at Kobe University Graduate School of Humanities, majoring in Sociology. With the individualization of society, the diversification of family forms and the development of assisted reproductive technology in post-modern society, there are groups of single mothers who have spontaneously become single mothers in our society. They are called "selective single mothers". The emergence of selective single mothers has implications not only for women's lifestyles, but also for the changing shape of the family and the concept of motherhood. In order to clarify how selective single motherhood affects the change of family form and redefine the concept of motherhood, I will use sociological research methods to study selective single mothers in Japan.
Q. What are your goals and dreams for the future? Please be as specific as possible.
After obtaining my master's degree, I will pursue my Ph. During my PhD, I would like to study in Scandinavia if I have the opportunity. Because the research on selective single motherhood in the Nordics is very fruitful. In addition, Scandinavia is the first region in the world to legalize selective single motherhood. In the future, I hope to become a university teacher and continue my research in gender studies and family sociology at a university in Japan or China.
Q. Please give some advice to students who will join TCJ in the future and current students based on your experience.
There are three main points to grasp for the graduate school examinations, Japanese language ability, professional knowledge and research proposal. Regarding the study of Japanese, with the guidance of TCJ teachers, the Japanese language will definitely keep improving. Before I came to TCJ, my Japanese was only N2 level. After one year, I was promoted from the last class of the graduate school class to class 1. The study of specialized knowledge must be grasped. This is because only with a certain level of professional knowledge can help us to better identify problems from an academic perspective, so that we can write interesting and meaningful research proposals. In addition, if you have enough time, it is recommended to take an English grade.
