Morning Intensive Class
Before enrolling, my biggest challenge was understanding Japanese grammar and sentence structure. Japanese is very different from English and Hindi, especially the word order, particles such as は, が, を, に, and で, and the different levels of politeness. I often understood individual words but had difficulty putting them together into a correct sentence. I also found it difficult to remember kanji and understand when to use different verb forms, such as the polite, plain, past, negative, and potential forms. Because of this, I sometimes lacked confidence when speaking. I wanted to understand not only the meaning of Japanese, but also why a particular grammar pattern was used and how native speakers actually use it in daily conversations.
I chose TCJ because I wanted to learn Japanese in a structured environment where I could improve not only my grammar and vocabulary but also my speaking and communication skills. I was looking for a school with experienced teachers, a supportive learning environment, and lessons that could help me use Japanese in real-life situations.
Another important reason was that I wanted to become more confident when communicating with Japanese people. I felt that TCJ would provide me with the right environment to practice speaking, ask questions, and gradually overcome the difficulties I had when studying Japanese on my own.
Overall, I chose TCJ because I believe it can help me build a strong foundation in Japanese and achieve my future academic and career goals in Japan.
One specific example was during a speaking practice class at TCJ. We practiced using grammar that I had previously found difficult. At first, I was nervous about making mistakes, but I tried to explain my thoughts in Japanese instead of translating everything in my head. When my teacher understood what I was trying to say and responded naturally in Japanese, I felt, “My Japanese was actually understood!”
That experience gave me more confidence because I realized that I did not need to speak perfectly to communicate. I also noticed that I could form sentences more quickly and use grammar that I had learned in class in an actual conversation. It made me feel that my Japanese was genuinely improving.
What I like most about the teachers’ teaching style is that they explain grammar clearly and give us many opportunities to practice it in real conversations. If I make a mistake, the teacher corrects me in a way that helps me understand why it is wrong, rather than simply giving me the correct answer.
I also like the friendly and comfortable class atmosphere. I feel free to ask questions and try speaking Japanese even when I am not completely confident. The teachers encourage us to participate, and the interaction with classmates makes the lessons more enjoyable and motivating.
If you are still undecided about enrolling, I would recommend giving TCJ a chance. If you want to improve your Japanese seriously, especially your speaking and communication skills, having experienced teachers and a supportive classroom environment can make a big difference. I was also unsure about some things before enrolling, but after attending the classes, I realized that learning Japanese with proper guidance is much more effective and motivating. If you are serious about improving your Japanese, I think TCJ is a good choice.
