Before enrolling, what was your biggest challenge when learning Japanese?

Before enrolling, my biggest challenge was consistently allocating dedicated time to my Japanese studies. Without the structure and accountability of a formal course, daily life and other responsibilities constantly took priority. I found that self-study makes it too easy to postpone lessons, as there is always an competing task or an excuse to delay practicing. This lack of formal commitment made it incredibly difficult to maintain a steady routine and make meaningful progress.

Why did you choose TCJ out of all the schools?

Because TCJ provides a very flexible and interactive learning environment with various scheduling options, which directly solved my challenge with time management

Please share a specific example of a time when, after taking a TCJ class, you felt that “my Japanese was understood!” or “I’ve improved!”

During a recent business meeting, I was surprised to find that I could comprehend ongoing discussions and no longer felt lost. This breakthrough gave me the confidence to start use Japanese with my colleagues, proving to me how much my communication skills have improved since starting at TCJ.

What do you like most about the teacher’s teaching style and the class atmosphere?

The best thing about TCJ teachers is probably their teaching style, which transforms complex grammar into easily digestible knowledge. They always create a supportive, engaging class atmosphere where making mistakes is treated as a natural part of learning, giving everyone the confidence to speak up and actively practice.

Please share a message for those who are still undecided about enrolling.

To all fellow foreigners working full-time in Japan: we often tell ourselves we will start studying “from next Monday,” but the truth is that Monday is today. Take a deep breath and trust that TCJ’s supportive evening classes will not exhaust you, but will gently and organically help your Japanese skills grow.
