CLUB TCJ Origami Event Held!

Students Experiencing Origami for the Very First Time!

On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, TCJ Tokyo held the “CLUB TCJ Origami Event.” Around 15 students joined us on the day, ranging from beginner to advanced levels. For many participants, it was their very first time trying origami, and the venue was filled with excitement and anticipation.

Summer-Themed Sunflower and Watermelon Origami

Our Japanese language instructor, Mr./Ms. Dozono, led the origami workshop for the event. Keeping with the spirit of the season, we chose sunflowers and watermelons as our summer-themed topics. Participants first selected their origami paper for each part of the sunflower and watermelon. With so many colors and patterns to choose from, everyone’s combinations were unique, resulting in a wonderful display of one-of-a-kind creations.

Origami Is Harder Than It Looks!

Beyond the simple “mountain folds and valley folds,” many participants struggled with the more complex folding steps. Even one misstep can throw off the whole shape! Despite the challenge, everyone persevered and successfully completed their creations by the end🌻🍉

Voices from Participants

We heard lots of great feedback from participants, including: “It was hard, but so much fun!” “I’m so happy I made something that really feels like summer!” and “The sunflower and watermelon combination is just too cute!”

The event wrapped up in a lively and warm atmosphere.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated!
