Before enrolling, what was your biggest challenge when learning Japanese?

Before enrolling at TCJ, my biggest challenge was my limited vocabulary. There were many moments when I couldn’t understand what Japanese people were saying, and even when I did understand the general meaning, I struggled to respond because I simply didn’t have enough words to express myself. It was frustrating to know what I wanted to say in my head but not be able to say it in Japanese. This gap in vocabulary made conversations feel overwhelming and held me back from communicating confidently.

Why did you choose TCJ out of all the schools?

Honestly, TCJ kept appearing on my social media feed, and that’s what first caught my attention. I decided to look into it further, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the school was conveniently located near my place, which was a big factor in my decision. But beyond just the location, what really convinced me to enroll was the format of the classes. I felt that attending a language school in person, with real face-to-face interaction, would push me to improve much faster compared to studying online or self-studying. I believed that being physically present in a classroom environment would keep me motivated and accountable, and that’s exactly what happened.

Please share a specific example of a time when, after taking a TCJ class, you felt that “my Japanese was understood!” or “I’ve improved!”

One specific moment that really stood out to me was when I was working at a hospital. After taking TCJ classes, I found it much easier to understand instructions from my colleagues and requests from patients in Japanese. It was a great feeling to realize that I could actually follow conversations that I would have struggled with before.
Another major milestone was when I transitioned to a Japanese company, where formal communication is essential, whether it’s speaking formally with colleagues, replying to emails in Japanese, or communicating with clients. I was genuinely surprised by how much my Japanese had improved.

What do you like most about the teacher’s teaching style and the class atmosphere?

What I love most about TCJ is the way the teachers create such an engaging and interactive learning environment. Classes never feel stiff or boring. Teachers often start with light casual conversations, which immediately makes everyone feel comfortable and ready to learn. Beyond that, we also have structured discussion sessions and even debates, which I find incredibly effective for improving both my speaking and listening skills in a natural way.
Another thing I truly appreciate is the diversity in the classroom. I’ve had the chance to meet and befriend people from so many different countries, which makes every class feel like a mini international experience. Learning Japanese alongside people from different cultural backgrounds has not only broadened my perspective but also made the whole journey so much more enjoyable and memorable.

Please share a message for those who are still undecided about enrolling.

If you’ve been seeing TCJ’s ads pop up on your social media and you’re still on the fence, take that as a sign! I was in the exact same position as you once, scrolling past the ads and wondering if it was worth it. Trust me, it is. Enrolling at TCJ was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Your Japanese will improve more than you can imagine, and the benefits go far beyond just the language itself. You’ll meet incredible people from all over the world, build meaningful connections, and who knows — it might even open doors you never expected.
