🌞A Day Connecting the World — TCJ School Festival🌞
On September 6, TCJ held a special TCJ School Festival for international learners living in Japan. It was a heartwarming and lively day filled with laughter and applause. Students experienced colorful aspects of Japanese culture that go beyond the classroom, and also built warm connections with visitors from outside the school.Stepping out of the classroom and linking Japanese learning to real daily life — this is one of the unique charms of TCJ.
Matcha
TCJ teachers whisked fresh matcha on the spot, filling the air with a soft tea aroma.Participants picked up the bamboo whisk (chasen) and tried making their own. The slightly bitter yet refreshing taste brought gentle smiles to everyone’s faces.
Yukata
Wearing a yukata is on the wish list for many visitors to Japan — usually done in places like Asakusa. But on this day, the TCJ venue was filled with colorful yukata and cheerful energy. With kind support from professional instructors, participants dressed in vibrant yukata and captured radiant smiles and unforgettable moments at the photo corner.
Kendama
At first, the ball kept falling, but after practice, the moment they succeeded, the room erupted in applause.Everyone was absorbed in this traditional Japanese toy, feeling the joy of taking on a challenge and succeeding.
Karuta (Card Game)
This traditional Japanese card game was also a big hit.Participants listened carefully to Japanese cues and quickly grabbed the cards, filling the space with excitement.
Bonseki
Participants also tried the traditional art of “Bonseki,” using stones and white sand to create miniature landscapes. The live demonstration by a TCJ teacher captured everyone’s attention. Many teachers at TCJ not only have extensive experience in teaching Japanese, but also in arts and culture — one of the school’s unique charms.
Bringing People Closer Through Japanese
Alongside the cultural booths, there was a Japanese conversation salon and a consultation corner where learners could talk about their language concerns.Everyone chatted happily, building confidence through each warm interaction. For those who love Japanese language and culture, it was a day full of both learning and joy.
TCJ will continue to support learners in making their lives in Japan richer and happier through learning.
We look forward to welcoming you to the next TCJ School Festival!
